Guide for connecting to Remnants of Chaos 3.2.2 Server!

The following guide will instruct you on how to begin playing on the Remnants of Chaos server (Version:3.2.2). If any of the following is unclear please feel free to PM me and I will help you as soon as humanly possible..

Things to keep in mind!

1) World of Warcraft on version 3.2.2 may take up quite alot of space, the average size would be around 15 to 16 Gigabytes of hard drive space, please make sure you have sufficient space before continuing.

2) Your PC/Laptop MUST reach certain requirements before being able to run World of Warcraft:

PC/Laptop Minimum requirements:
Windows XP SP3 or Vista SP1
Pentium 4 1.3 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1.5 GHz.
RAM: 512 MB/1 GB for Vista. Although 1 Gigabytes or 2 Gigabytes of RAM are recommended.
Video: GPU with hardware transform and lighting and 32 MB



The Guide Begins


First and foremost, you MUST download the following:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/dow.../InstallWoW.exe <--- This program will facilitate the installation process by 1000x.

The above file is only 1.6 Megabytes, it serves as a direct downloader of the Worldcraft files itself and it can give faster than average download speeds.

Secondly - Once you download the file mentioned in Step 1, run the file from wherever you downloaded it. It should pop-up a box which asks you which World of Warcraft you would like to download:



Download "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King"

Once your download is done, there should be a new folder on your desktop, open the folder and inside should be "Installer.exe"



After running the installer, you will have a new box appear with various options at the main menu. Starting at the top it should say:

INSTALL
README
MANUAL
SUPPORT
EXIT

If it isn't obvious enough already, please select "Install".
Select the Language which you prefer for your World of Warcraft.
Then a page will show the Terms of Service, read this or scroll all the way down and click accept.
After clicking accept you must choose where to download the files to, it has a default already so you can "OK" and continue.
After doing so patiently wait while you download the Wrath of the Lich King files and automatically install them as you download.


Once the installation is complete there will be a screen like this:

Do NOT select the Option to play just yet. Exit out of this window and continue reading the guide. At this point you should be on Version 3.0.1 of WoW, your goal is 3.2.0, the following links contain the patches required in their respective order:

Install every patch in the correct order, when your done installing DO NOT let the Blizzard launcher update. READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY:

Once you've installed every patch required and are on Version 3.2.2 of WoW, you MUST go into your WoW folder which is located by default at "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS" locate a file called "Realmlist"




Right click the realmlist file and select "Open with..." and open the file using Notepad/wordpad or any text editor of your choosing. Delete all the text content of the "Realmlist" file then copy and paste the following

set realmlist login.remnantsofchaos.com

then exit out of the file and save all changes. The next step is, go back to the main portion of your WoW folder. The path should look like "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft" (If you used the default location for the folder). Then locate the following file:


Once you find that file, create a shortcut by right clicking it and selecting "Create a shortcut":


Take the newly created shortcut and drag it towards your location of preference, I suggest the desktop.

My sincerest apologies, I had been thinking about doing one for a while, but had so many exams it was difficult to sit down and make the guide=\. Found some free time on Friday after my AP U.S. history exam, hopefully it helps.

Quite frankly if they find this guide too difficult they're either stupid or retarded and will just end up giving us a hard time on the server. Ergo, if it's too hard for you then my idiot-proof system is working, thank you for confirming that.

Nice guide. I just have a question: do we need to get the 3.1.0 patch from the specific link you provide, or can we download any 3.1.0 patch? I found a really faster mirror, downloading from there also helps saving your BW but it's not the same file size as the patch you provide.

Also, this one worked fine:

I found a really faster mirror, downloading from there also helps saving your BW but it's not the same file size as the patch you provide.

This mirror is much faster than Filefront (I reach over 10Mbps vs around 2Mbps on Filefront) and they seem to have all US patches from 3.0.3 to 3.1.3. This reminds me I should maybe get 3.1.3

Ah yes, if you find a mirror link with faster download speeds, by all means please use it . I was just using filefront as a general base for it. .

I got an error when the Installer.exe was on 1%, it said timed out and a lot of numbers and charcaters, etc etc, tried like 3 times, dont think is gonna work.

WTF i can\t run wow install.exe ....i mean when i run it noting hapends....nothing open up .....i already have wow burning crusade installed and 3.1.3 patch any sugestions ....???
