How to beat ret paladins as a mage Options

ok so since theres alot of rets on this server i thought id post a quick guide to beating them.

firsty think about what cds hes used or hasnt used this is important also knowing the person your fighting can help as this tells you their routines and habbits.

start of with some frost bolts to bait a freedom if he doesnt freedom nova him then poly straight away this usually gets them to freedom and you should end up with a ret in sheep with freedom up primed for spell steal(note: if he has trinket it might be a good idea to polymorph him straight after the first incase he instant trinkets) if he doesnt trinket or its on cd spell steal freedom off him get a pet out nova + deep freeze and nuke him down another method of forcing freedom is nova counter spell deep freeze he will most likely trinket or spam freedom while you throw some damage out, if he freedoms spell steal get pet and nuke.

in regards to when to trinket/blink/ice block i usually blink every hammer trinket repentance if hes far away and iceblock if hes close, you want to avoid as much damage as possible(obviously)

Also as a note you can spell steal him first instead of frost bolting or rank 1 frost bolt followed by max rank frost bolt till he gets your attention at which point you spell steal him and set up for a sheep->spell steal freedom->nuke.

if he bubbles things can get tricky but a nice trick is to blink out of LOS and invisibility and go eat some where or iceblock if you have cds ready for repentance/hammer.

U cant start with frostbolts, u r just gonna eat a Crusader Strike / Divine storm in ur ass while casting ( not even a decent ret will leave u casting at the start ). Vs rets i mainly start with poly right away, because he is gonna stun/repen just to interrupt it giving me a fast blink and no hammer during the whole duel.

When he bubbles u can just use Evocation.

Basicly its the rotation is like this: slow-> barrage-> fireblast-> barrage-> /say Lol noob -> barrage -> slow -> fire blast -> /spit -> Precense of mind -> Pyroblast / Any other strong skill -> /dance.

If the paladin bubbles blink away and eat/drink / evocation. and repeat

Make sure you tell tem to l2p there class when they die and /spit or any other insult.

This should be called "How to beat a paly who cant play as a noob mage". U cant start with frostbolt cus before finishing casting it ure probably dead. and what makes u think a paly whould HoF on ure frostbolts? A smart ret whould use HoF only when u deep freeze (if ure frost) cus the frostbolt efect can be dispelled. U should start with a poly, (trinket if he Repetance, blink if he stun) then cast poly again, he could trinket. U must kite him all the time no matter what spec u have ( some rank 1 frostbolts can help if ure not arcane).DO NOT stop to cast unless u know he cant get near you before you can finish casting ure spell. DO NOT deep freeze if he didnt used Hand of Freedom yet, u whould just give him a chance 2 use it and remove any slow, and u must steal it and slow him again. Blink only on stuns or if u know his stun is on CD. Save Ib for desperate situation when hes near u and u cant do anythink 2 get away. Save invizibility for Bubble. And be carefull with ure mana Rets usualy drive me oom T.T
